The Week Ahead on
Just 12 members of the S&P 500 are scheduled to report Q-2 earnings this week to Wall Street as earnings season winds down.Tuesday, Best Buy Co. (NYSE:BBY) reports

Wednesday, Avago Technologies Ltd. (:AVGO) and Brown-Forman Corp. ( NYSE:BF.A) and

General Corp. (NYSE:DG) Thursday.

Economic Reports

The 1st economic reports of note to Wall Street will be July new home sales, the Conference Board’s August consumer confidence index and the June S&P Case-Shiller home price index. July durable goods will be released Wednesday.

On Thursday, the revised Q-2 GDP and July pending home sales.

On Friday, July personal income and spending and the final August University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Survey () will be released.


Monday, Atlanta President Dennis Lockhart is the only Federal Reserve official to speak in public, expect him to opine on the state of the economy, and that the expected growth is 1.3% not 2.6 to 3.0% that is being bandied around.

Treasury Complex

The US Treasury Department will auction $26-B of 2-year Notes Tuesday; $35-B of 5-year Notes Wednesday and $29-B of 7-year Notes on Thursday. The US Treasury Department will also auction $13-B of 2-year floating rate Notes Wednesday.
